Specs & tolerances

Numbers you can hold us to.

Trade or homeowner, you shouldn't have to open the box to learn what we build to. These are the envelopes the configurators accept, the tolerances the shop packs to, and the system dimensions your installer will ask about.

Dimension envelopes

Every dimension is accepted in 1 mm steps — enter millimeters or inches, the toggle converts, and the shop builds in mm. The table below is generated from the same source the configurators validate against.

Build tolerances

Solid wood moves with the seasons, so honest tolerances carry a timestamp: every number below is measured at packing, at the stated moisture content. After that, widths across the grain track your home's humidity by known amounts — the wood-movement page has per-species figures — while lengths along the grain effectively hold still.

  • Cut dimensions: ±0.5 mm from your confirmed numbers.
  • Square: assembled boxes within 1.0 mm across the diagonals.
  • Flatness: panels within 1 mm over any 600 mm span.
  • Moisture content: 6–8%, targeted to Mountain-West interiors.

A piece outside these numbers on arrival is a warranty matter, plainly. Seasonal movement inside the published envelopes afterward is the wood working as designed, not a defect.

Materials

Solid hardwood throughout — no plywood, no MDF, no veneer. Panels are glued up with hot hide glue (reversible, repairable, the furniture standard for centuries). Six show species: Maple, Alder, Red Oak, Ash, White Oak, Cherry, Walnut — plus paint-grade poplar under linseed paint. Finishes are their own page.

Hardware & boring

  • Hinge boring follows Blum's 35 mm cup system — hinges press in without tools.
  • Pull boring is drilled at 4.7625 or 6.35 mm (3/16″ or 1/4″), center-to-center spacing from 38 to 610 mm.
  • Bores keep at least 6.35 mm of wood between hole and edge — the configurator enforces it, and a layout that can't fit gets a review mark instead of a silently moved hole.
  • Boxes hang on the steel wall rail with built-in leveling — the guide covers mounting.

What we don't promise

Grain and color matching across separate orders. Wood from different boards, cut months apart, will not match like laminate — within one order we pull from the same stock and arrange for harmony, but nature signs every board differently. Order together what needs to live together.

A printed spec sheet with these numbers, your exact dimensions, and the hardware listing numbers ships in every box.
